These prints are evidence that constraints can fuel the creative process. This was a notion I found hard to believe when it was first told to me but its a reoccurring theme in my discovery of art and architecture. This series of prints uses the same size page and primary blocking to dictate where the color goes. A second system guides further division throughout the page. In isolation a print may not have the same impact as a set. The set shows the exploration of the rules and the adherence to the systems. This theme is consistent throughout Judd’s work, the collection of parts derived from a system.
